So, it is the right moment to go on exploring more about the Guangdong marinas. In the first chapter we talked about Longcheer Marina and in the second chapter about DameiSha Marina. Now, it is the moment to talk a little about the future and what I have seen so far, always personally and with pictures, about the construction of new marinas in Guangdong. The construction of new marinas in China will, clearly, have a huge impact in the developing of yachting industry in China, so it is a subject that I think it should be followed closely.

I do not where or how they got this information. Maybe they live in a different Guangdong that the Guangdong I live in.
Before of going on, there is a subject I would like to speak about: it is a pity, but usually, due to the language barrier, cultural barriers and other problems the information you can find about sailing in China it is, in most of the occasions, inaccurate and insufficient, and in some cases, even completely wrong or pretentious. I will give you only one example. If today you search in Google the words “marinas in Guangdong” the first link that Google will offer you will be portbooker.com a website that offer you the services of booking any mooring or berth anywhere in the world. Of course they offer to do the same in China, actually they offer a map with a dozen of places in Guangdong where you can moor your yacht. The problem is when you try to really book, the website says: we do not have any contact information about this place or, at this moment, we are unable to offer this service. This is the reality about China, there is little information in English (in Chinese you can find real information in www.chinasailing.com made by my brother Mr. Luo), and the information you can find, it is a pity to say it, it is far from being realistic. That is the main reason why, when I started to write about this subject, I had very clear that I only wanted to rely 100% in my direct field research over the ground and anything else.
But enough of talking, we better go into the future marina I wanted to talk about today. Because we are already talking about future. First, as always, I repeat the table of what I know so far:

Personal assessment: Shenzhen International Marine Club has big plans and a beautiful and central location, in Shenzhen City, closed to the fish market of Shekou. The opening ceremony (I was there) was held on the 5th of July 2008, but that was not the operative launching party, because the infrastructure of the marina was not ready that day.
Official Information provided by the Marina:
Capacity: Unknown.
Members: new club, actively enrolling new members.

From right to left: Chen KaiGe, the worldwide known Chinese director, Fu Liang Vice President of the Golf Association of Shenzhen City and the well known Frank Pong, prominent figure of the sailing world in China and Hong Kong and successful businessman. I made Frank a small interview that I hope I will be able to publish soon.
Shenzhen International Marina Club (IMC) is a private club, which provides the exquisite, elegant, honorable, healthy, practical and uplifting enviroment of high quality yachting in an exclusive setting. Located in The Peninsula, in Shekou, Shenzhen.

Club: IMC owns more than ten vessels and offer Special Routes (to Hainan, for example), rental services, training programs and other club services as fitness, swimming and so on..
Price for joining the club: 300,000 RMB (around 43,700 US$)

HOW TO GET THERE?
GPS Data: Unknown.
It is not difficult to find the place if you are familiar with Shenzhen, you only need to go direction to Shekou, towards the fish market and you will see the road signals indicating The Peninsula.

Personal Opinion: It was impossible for me to find the marina itself, located in the back of the party area. At the end I found it, and you can see the pictures of what I saw that day. I have to go again to see how the improvements are going but, at the moment, I think it is not operative at all if you try to moor there.

Ready, but still not in the water

Still under construction, at that moment, a refueling port, with some yachts in it.

The place, as I said before, it is easy to find, and the location is wonderful. But, at least when I was there one month ago, they were not ready. I hope the situation will improve soon and I will have better pictures to show.

They are trying hard to promote sailing among the young people, and they have an agreement with BASC to offer training in sailing, it is something I really hope it will materialize.
I did not see any repair shop and I do not have any kind of information about their mechanics. I hope I will be able to extend this in the near future.

New place, in Shenzhen city, and worthy to pay a visit because of the wonderful view.
