Visiting us
We want to make your visit to the regatta and time in Shenzhen as plain-sailing as possible so here you will find details of how to get here, travel links and details of what the city has to offer in the way of accommodation and attractions and to help you plan your time.
If you still have a question then check on FAQs or click here to e-mail us and we will do our best to help.
Chinese visa
If you are visiting China just for the regatta you will need no more than a one or three
month tourist(L) visa. If you plan to stay longer then you can choose a six-month
visa. It is easier to obtain a visa in your home country before you leave although it is
possible for some nationalities to obtain visas in Hong Kong. Please contact the
Chinese Embassy/Consulate in your own country for advice and applications. The
following site gives information primarily for US citizens.

If you want to sail to China/Hong Kong:
To bring your own yacht to the regatta you will need to first sail to Hong Kong and then sail to Shenzhen under the arrangements we will put in place. At present it is not possible for foreigners to sail into China's territorial waters outside of the regatta period without express permission, although we are actively working with the government to make this possible in future.
You can sail to Hong Kong (by contacting the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club) and then during the regatta period, and under our arrangements, sail to Longcheer Yacht Club in Shenzhen's Daya Bay.
Full details will be made available nearer the time.

Traveling around Shenzhen
We will be providing regular transport for visitors between key hotels and the regatta and other event venues.
Central Shenzhen also has a new efficient Metro system linking key business, shopping and tourist areas and the two rail border crossings with Hong Kong, Luohu and Futian (Huanggang ).
Taxis are also widely available but it is useful to carry a written Chinese version of
any address you want to be taken to.
Driving in China
Foreign driving licenses are not currently recognized in China so please do not be tempted to drive.
Credit cards and cash
All major hotels and designer stores accept credit cards but elsewhere, mainland China is mainly a cash-based society. You can get cash, Renminbi (RMB) or yuan, easily using Bank of China ATMs.
